The ERG (exhaust gas recirculation) sensor is installed in the excavator tubeline of the EGR valve, and monitors the temperature of the exhaust gases. Its electrical sensing probe monitors EGR gas temperature and transmits the signal to the engine control computer. Check the ERG valve for proper operation when a new sensor is installed.
